“Arcadia Avenue” is a block of the month paper-piecing project. This is a great class to enhance your paper-piecing skills.  It is also a good learning tool for beginners.  In fact, “Arcadia Avenue” was the class where Kathleen Bassi, the teacher, learned to paper-piece.

Sessions are the 2nd Friday of the month from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, beginning July 14, 2023 through August 9, 2024. We are allotting 13 months for the program with the potential for a 14th month if participants desire.  In the first month, we will organize your fabrics and cut fabric for the blocks.  You do not need your sewing machines in July.  After that, we will sew a block per month in class.  The 14th month, should we choose to do it, will address the triangular setting blocks that complete the quilt top.   Price $225 for 13, possibly 14 sessions. Includes pattern.

For the first class, bring your fabric and your organizers (see Supplies List, below), as well the tools necessary for cutting the fabric for the blocks.  Do not bring your sewing machines.  We will discuss vellum during this first class, and Kathleen will show you the type of vellum she recommends.  You may want to wait to buy vellum until after the first class.

Classes will run three hours, from 10:00 to 1:00, during each of the monthly sessions beginning Friday, July 14, 2023, and continuing on the subsequent second Fridays of the month.  Mark your calendars and join us!

Our teacher for this class is Kathleen Bassi.  Kathleen began quilting a bit tentatively about 10 years ago.  Once she retired, she went gangbusters and sews nearly every day.  Her favorite piecing method is paper piecing, and she often converts standard block patterns into paper piecing patterns.
