Classes and Events

We want you to experience longarm quilting and all the capability of our APQS longarm machines. Classes are for everyone, from beginners through experienced longarm quilters. Click on a title to see more detail. 

Our class schedule is on our calendar. Brief descriptions are below – book a class directly or learn more about each class. Classes are held at our studio on Buttercup Creek in Cedar Park, Texas. If you have a general question about classes email us or call 512-358-4605.

A $25 non-refundable deposit is required for most classes. The deposit is applicable only to the specific class. Please see the individual class registration page for further information.

Rental Certification: This 3 hour class prepares you to rent independent time on one of our APQS longarm machines. The class includes an hour of detailed instructions. Advanced Featherweight Maintenance Class: Learn how to care for your classic Singer “Featherweight” Model 221 sewing machine. Class is 3 hours at our Studio. Pat Romohr

Advanced Kid’s Quilt Camp: Your child will learn basic principles of quilt making: accurate cutting, proper piecing and the difference between ironing and pressing and will make blocks for a lap quilt. Advanced T-shirt Quilt Construction: Learn to make an even better t-shirt quilt. In this class, you’ll learn the “random” design, and techniques to use as many parts and logos of a t-shirt as possible. Our instructor is Laura Holst. Beginning Kid’s Quilting Camp: We will have two different block designs: one for the beginner one for the advanced-beginner. The class is four consecutive half days from 9:00 AM to noon, July 30 to August 2. This class is for the beginner or advanced-beginner, ages 9 and up. Beginning Quilting – Nine Patch Fun: In this two day class, beginners will complete a quilt using a variation of the nine patch block. The quilt will be two colors and either a 40″ x 40″ or a 56″ x 56″. This two day class is offered at our Studio. Supplies and fabric are required. Featherweight Maintenance Class:

Dave Eaton

David Eaton from “So Old Sew New” will teach you skills, tips, and insider tricks to keep that Singer Featherweight in excellent running condition for frustration free sewing and quilting. The class will focus on Singer 221/222 Featherweight.  However, once you learn the basics you will be able to service your other Vintage Sewing Machines (non-electronics). Learn more.

The Featherweight Club: offers the opportunity to meet and spend time with other Singer 221 Featherweight owners and users. The Featherweight Club usually meets the 3rd Sunday of every month from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. There is no registration for Club Meetings and meetings are free. Please email Pat.moore@nullsooldsewnew.com to indicate your interest in the club and attending a meeting.
